An elongated drop, almost bulb-shaped, topped by a finely turned cone of light wood. Rattan canes run vertically from the top down to the lower tip, cinched at the middle by a denser woven ring. The shape recalls a seed pod or a bud about to open.

The Mistral rattan and wood pendant light is named after the strong wind that sweeps through Provence, in the south of France, and its vertical weave recalls tall grasses bent under a gust.

The turned wood cap, drawn out into a slim bell, makes a clean join with the cord. Once lit, the bulb stays visible between the canes and the light escapes in wide rays that throw a vertical pattern on the walls. The fibers warm toward gold as the light passes through. In a room, the shape adds height, a clear contrast with pendants that spread out wide.

A tall rattan drop pendant for high ceilings and stairwells

At 16" across and 16" tall (40 x 40 cm), it has a strong volume made for rooms with generous ceiling height. In a stairwell, hung alone at the center, it fills the space without crowding it. Over a long dining table under a high ceiling, it can hang low without getting in the way, and over a bed it can replace bedside lamps and free up the nightstands.

A rattan and wood pendant light in natural beige or black

The beige version keeps the natural tone of blond rattan, with a light wood cap that carries the warmth of the fiber, made for bright Scandinavian or Mediterranean rooms. The black version turns the canes a deep matte black, which brings out the vertical weave against the light wood cap, for more modern or industrial spaces. Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.

The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.
