Description
A small globe, slightly flattened, woven in a tight diamond pattern from very fine strands of rattan and hung from a black steel socket. The weave is so regular that it reads more like fine basketry than a lampshade. Compact and neat, it keeps a low profile on the ceiling.
The Andros rattan pendant light is named after the northernmost island of the Cyclades, in Greece, where dry stone walls divide the hillsides into diamond-shaped fields all the way down to the sea.
Switch it on and the light passes through each opening, throwing a wide net of diamonds across the ceiling and nearby walls, far larger than the globe itself. The fiber turns a honey color around the bulb. The black socket fades into the shadow. For such a small piece, it changes the whole mood of your room.
A small rattan globe pendant made to hang in pairs and rows
At 8" across and 6" tall (20 x 15 cm), the Andros is deliberately discreet. On its own, it suits a nightstand, hung low beside the bed, or a small entryway. It works best repeated: a pair over a kitchen counter, or a row of three along an island or a dining table.

A natural fiber pendant light for boho and Japandi interiors
Rattan is the cane of a climbing palm, and this one keeps its uneven strands and its shades from sand to honey. The tight weave gives the shade a more graphic look than most natural fiber lights. This rattan pendant light pairs with light wood, raw linen, terracotta and limewashed walls. Use it in a kitchen, a dining nook or an entry where a large shade would crowd the space.
Each globe is woven by hand, so the line of the diamonds shifts slightly from one piece to the next.

Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

7 ft+
20-24"
60-66"
The height decides everything. Hang a pendant too high and it behaves like a ceiling light. Bring it down to the right height and it gathers people around the table, frames the bed and gives a kitchen its rhythm. Pick where yours will hang.
30 to 34"
Between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Low enough to feel intimate, high enough to see across the table.
30 to 36"
Above the countertop. In a row of two or three, leave 24 to 30 inches between shades.
7 ft +
From the floor to the bottom of the shade when nothing sits below. Over a coffee table, you can come lower.
7 ft +
From the floor, for a central light. A wide, soft shade keeps the light gentle at night.
20 to 24"
Above the nightstand. It replaces a table lamp and frees up the surface.
60 to 66"
From the floor, one on each side of the mirror, around eye level.
Questions
Before you order
Anything else about this light, write to us. We reply within one business day.
How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
What if it arrives damaged?
