Description
A flat, wide disc of travertine, crossed at its center by a short walnut cylinder. The stone forms a thick crown, open in the middle to let the wood through and release the light downward. Low and broad, it is an unusual format for a stone pendant.
The Sole travertine and wood pendant light is named after sole, the Italian word for sun, and borrows its flattened roundness and the warm light that seems to pour from beneath it.
The bulb, set under the wood cylinder, sits slightly below the disc and sends a beam toward the floor. The stone, dotted with small cavities and darker veins, catches the light along its edge and throws it back onto nearby walls, a bit like a sunset held in the stone. In the room, it reads wide without feeling heavy. Its low height keeps your eye at the level of the table, not the ceiling.
A flat, wide travertine and walnut pendant for long tables
At 8" in diameter and only 4" tall (21 x 11 cm), it plays the horizontal card. That makes it a good fit for rooms with limited ceiling height, or to underline a long, rectangular dining table without blocking the view. Over a kitchen island it gives a clear focal point where you might otherwise use recessed spots, and over a coffee table or reading chair it marks out a cozy corner.

A natural stone pendant light for modern Mediterranean interiors
Travertine is a porous limestone with a sand tone and a dry, tactile surface. Paired with walnut, it fits a modern Mediterranean look, like a Sicilian or Andalusian home reworked with clean lines. In a dining room, this travertine and wood pendant light centers the whole setting, especially over a long table. The walnut brings a warm note that balances the paleness of the stone.
The stone keeps its pores and shades of beige, and the wood its grain, so each piece is slightly different.

Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

The material
Travertine, no two blocks alike
Each block keeps its own pores and tones. The cavities are not flaws: they are the marks of a limestone formed by mineral springs.
- Origin
- Natural limestone formed by mineral springs
- Light
- Dense: it sends the light down in a focused pool
- Care
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and acidic cleaners.

7 ft+
20-24"
60-66"
The height decides everything. Hang a pendant too high and it behaves like a ceiling light. Bring it down to the right height and it gathers people around the table, frames the bed and gives a kitchen its rhythm. Pick where yours will hang.
30 to 34"
Between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Low enough to feel intimate, high enough to see across the table.
30 to 36"
Above the countertop. In a row of two or three, leave 24 to 30 inches between shades.
7 ft +
From the floor to the bottom of the shade when nothing sits below. Over a coffee table, you can come lower.
7 ft +
From the floor, for a central light. A wide, soft shade keeps the light gentle at night.
20 to 24"
Above the nightstand. It replaces a table lamp and frees up the surface.
60 to 66"
From the floor, one on each side of the mirror, around eye level.
Questions
Before you order
Anything else about this light, write to us. We reply within one business day.
How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
