A thick travertine pebble, round at the edges and dotted with small cavities, hangs at the end of a light wood stem that runs up to the ceiling. The turned wood sinks straight into the mass of the stone, so the joint shows no break. Compact and low, the whole shade could almost sit in the palm of your hand.

The Nora travertine and wood pendant light is named after Nora, a Phoenician trading post that became a Roman town on the south coast of Sardinia, where pale stone ruins now face the sea, half swallowed by the waves.

When the bulb is on, the light leaves from under the stone disc and forms a tight circle on the table or counter, while the wood stem stays quiet above. The disc itself stays matte, so the glow appears only where you need it. Its small size makes it an accent of light, not a centerpiece. Several in a row read like a string of pebbles floating at the same height.
