Description
A tall cylinder of travertine drops from the ceiling, topped by a narrower wood disc that holds the fixing. The proportions are elongated, 6" tall for 4" across, which gives the piece an almost column-like outline. The light beige stone shows its pores and small irregularities along its full height.
The Tivoli travertine flush mount light is named after Tivoli, the hill town east of Rome whose quarries have produced travertine since antiquity, the very stone it is made of.
The bulb sits deep inside the hollow cylinder, hidden by the depth of the stone. From below, you only see a soft glow at the opening, with no direct glare. Around the rim, the light takes on a honey tone as it catches the pores of the travertine. In the room, it drops about 6" (15 cm) from the ceiling, just enough to be noticed without getting in the way.
A tall cylinder flush mount in travertine and solid wood
At 6" tall and 4" in diameter (16 x 11 cm), it sits halfway between a recessed spot and a pendant. Over a bathroom vanity, it gives a quiet, close light, and in a hallway, two or three in a line set a steady rhythm as you walk through. In a bedroom, mount it on the ceiling rather than right over the bed, so it shapes the mood without dictating where the furniture goes.
Want to compare it with other shapes and materials? Browse all our pendant lights and find the one that fits your room.
A natural stone ceiling light for warm Mediterranean interiors
Choose between two wood finishes. Light Wood, with its blond grain, extends the warmth of the stone and suits bright Mediterranean or Scandinavian rooms. Dark Wood, close to walnut, draws a sharper contrast with the pale travertine and leans toward moodier, contemporary spaces. Most stone ceiling lights spread out wide; this travertine flush mount light rises instead, like a short fragment of a column set against your ceiling.
The stone keeps its pores, hollows and shifts of tone, and the wood keeps its grain, so no two pieces are exactly alike.

Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

The material
Travertine, no two blocks alike
Each block keeps its own pores and tones. The cavities are not flaws: they are the marks of a limestone formed by mineral springs.

- Dense: it sends the light down in a focused pool
- Care
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and acidic cleaners.

60-66"
The height decides everything. Hang a pendant too high and it behaves like a ceiling light. Bring it down to the right height and it gathers people around the table, frames the bed and gives a kitchen its rhythm. Pick where yours will hang.
30 to 34"
Between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Low enough to feel intimate, high enough to see across the table.
30 to 36"
Above the countertop. In a row of two or three, leave 24 to 30 inches between shades.
7 ft +
From the floor to the bottom of the shade when nothing sits below. Over a coffee table, you can come lower.
7 ft +
From the floor, for a central light. A wide, soft shade keeps the light gentle at night.
20 to 24"
Above the nightstand. It replaces a table lamp and frees up the surface.
60 to 66"
From the floor, one on each side of the mirror, around eye level.
Questions
Before you order
Anything else about this light, write to us. We reply within one business day.
How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
