Description
A small cylinder of thick jute rope, wound turn after turn around a black steel frame. The fiber is chunky, almost raw, and the small gaps between the turns let flecks of light through. The black frame gives the soft rope a crisp, workshop edge.
The Tinos jute rope pendant light is named after Tinos, a Greek island in the Cyclades known for its dry-stone dovecotes, openwork towers where daylight comes through a thousand small openings.
Switch it on and it gives a warm, focused light, with a tight pattern of shadows on the surfaces close by. Most of the light falls downward, onto the counter or the table below. The jute takes on a deeper, honey tone around the bulb. It brings presence to a spot without taking up space.

At 8" (20 cm) across, this pendant rarely hangs alone. It looks its best as a pair over a kitchen counter, a row of three over an island or a long dining table, lined up along an entryway, or one on each side of a bed in place of nightstand lamps. Leave about 24 to 30 inches between the centers of each shade so the row can breathe.

Jute rope keeps its visible fibers and rough grain, closer to a ship's rope than to a fabric. It softens the bulb and adds a texture that a smooth shade cannot. This jute rope pendant light pairs with travertine, raw wood, polished concrete and limewashed walls, while the black frame keeps it from looking too sweet. Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
