Description
A wide, low drum made of vertical strands of jute rope that cross freely between three rings, leaving irregular gaps through which you can see the bulb. The fiber work is frank and unpolished, with no smooth finish. For a shade of this width, it looks light, almost airy.
The Syros jute drum pendant light is named after Syros, the capital island of Greece's Cyclades, a neoclassical port of ochre facades and wrought iron balconies whose openwork lines this shade picks up.
Switch it on and it spreads light widely downward, while bright flecks escape through the gaps in the strands. The halo on the ceiling is softer than with a closed shade, and the room stays evenly lit. The jute warms around the bulb. Nothing in the room feels harsh.
A wide, low 12-inch jute drum pendant for tables and living rooms
At 12" across and 7" tall (31 x 18 cm), this flat, wide shape covers a round dining table, a reading corner or the space above a sofa. Its low height makes it work where the ceiling is not very high, without making the room feel crushed. Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
