Description
Curved petals of abaca, layered on two tiers, open like a flower in full bloom. A thin black rim traces the outline of each petal without taking over the pale fiber. The shape is generous and sculptural, with real volume above the table.
The Hesperia abaca pendant light is named after the Hesperides, the nymphs of the sunset in Greek mythology, who guarded a golden garden at the far edge of the known world.
When the bulb is on, the light passes through the abaca and lights each petal from within, with a soft, enveloping glow close to the color of a sunset. Seen from below, the flower shows a bright heart at its center, while the edges of the petals stand out crisply against the light.
An abaca flower pendant in two sizes for dining tables and islands
It comes in two sizes: 20" wide and 8" tall (50 x 20 cm), or 24" wide and 9" tall (60 x 23 cm). The 20" sits naturally above a dining table or a kitchen island. The 24" becomes the centerpiece of the room, hung alone in the middle of a living room or a generous dining room.

A natural fiber pendant light for warm, boho and Mediterranean interiors
Abaca is a plant fiber drawn from a type of banana plant, spun and stretched over a frame. It is finer and smoother than basketry and brings a botanical, sculptural touch to boho, Mediterranean or warm contemporary rooms. This abaca pendant light pairs with dark wood cabinetry, a sunlit dining room, a terracotta living room or a beige and cream bedroom. Its full shape works alone, or in a pair or a trio over a long table.
The abaca keeps its natural variations of tone and weave from petal to petal, so each shade is slightly different.

Hanging height & installation
Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.
The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.

7 ft+
20-24"
60-66"
The height decides everything. Hang a pendant too high and it behaves like a ceiling light. Bring it down to the right height and it gathers people around the table, frames the bed and gives a kitchen its rhythm. Pick where yours will hang.
30 to 34"
Between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Low enough to feel intimate, high enough to see across the table.
30 to 36"
Above the countertop. In a row of two or three, leave 24 to 30 inches between shades.
7 ft +
From the floor to the bottom of the shade when nothing sits below. Over a coffee table, you can come lower.
7 ft +
From the floor, for a central light. A wide, soft shade keeps the light gentle at night.
20 to 24"
Above the nightstand. It replaces a table lamp and frees up the surface.
60 to 66"
From the floor, one on each side of the mirror, around eye level.
Questions
Before you order
Anything else about this light, write to us. We reply within one business day.
How do I choose the right size?
Over a dining table, pick a shade about half to two thirds the width of the table. Over an island, two or three smaller shades usually look better than one large one. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size fits.
Is the bulb included?
No, so you can choose your own warmth. Most designs take a standard medium base E26 bulb; the socket is listed under Materials & dimensions. A warm white LED around 2700 K brings out the weave and the stone.
Will it work with US wiring?
Yes. It is wired for 110-120 V, the US standard, and connects to a regular ceiling junction box.
Can I mix designs in a pair or a trio?
Yes. Choose Pair or Trio, then add any designs and sizes you like: the discount counts every light in your cart.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close, not identical. Rattan, rope and stone are natural materials, so the weave, the veins and the tone vary slightly from one piece to the next.
