A large rattan bell, woven in wide diamonds over a frame of vertical strands, flaring gently toward the bottom before closing on a clean circle. The weave is open enough to see through. It has real volume, yet it reads light.

The Skopelos rattan pendant light is named after a pine-covered island in the Sporades, in Greece, where slate roofs and wooden balconies give the villages an almost woven look.

Switch it on and the bell lights up from inside, letting a checkerboard of light spread very wide across the walls and ceiling. It is less a task light than a mood light. The rattan glows warm around the bulb, and the diamonds repeat across the room. Your space feels softer at once.

Over a dining table, leave 30 to 34 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a kitchen island, 30 to 36 inches. With nothing below, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.

The light connects to a standard ceiling junction box like any fixture. If you are not comfortable with wiring, a licensed electrician will install it quickly.
