There is no cord and no stem: the light hugs the surface and drops only 8" (21 cm). The mesh is open enough to show the frame and fine enough to read as one soft shape.

The Symi rope flush mount light is named after Symi, a small island in Greece's Dodecanese whose sailors lived from sponge diving, an island of ropes and nets drying in the sun in front of ochre houses stacked above the harbor.

Turn it on and the light passes through the mesh, throwing a web of shadows onto the ceiling that doubles the presence of the fixture. The beam stays warm and diffused, never direct. The beige rope turns a honey tone that warms the whole room. Even a plain white ceiling gains texture.

A braided hemp rope ceiling light for low ceilings and entryways

At 12" across and 8" tall (30 x 21 cm), this flush mount fits where a pendant would not: an entryway, a hallway, a bedroom under the eaves, a kitchen with a low ceiling. It lights the space without crowding it and leaves the way clear overhead. Repeated every six or seven feet along a hallway, it sets a calm rhythm.

Want to compare it with other shapes and materials? Browse all our pendant lights and find the one that fits your room.

A natural fiber rope flush mount light for boho and Japandi rooms

Hemp rope keeps its uneven grain, its visible fibers and its shifts in tone, those of a material worked by hand rather than molded. The natural beige pairs with washed linen, raw wood, terracotta and limewashed walls. On its own in an entryway, this rope flush mount light creates a warm point of light right at the door. In a bedroom or a living room, it gives soft, even light for the end of the day.

The black frame almost vanishes once the light is on, and the hemp keeps its own marks, so each piece is slightly different.

Materials & dimensions

Material: Hemp rope, metal
Diameter: 12" (30 cm)
Height: 8" (21 cm)
Color: Beige
Socket: Medium base (E26/E27), bulb not included
Voltage: 110-120 V (US standard)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1085/9505/2869/files/plafonnier-corde-chanvre-tressee-fond-blanc-vue-produit_a57da305-7b30-48ec-b491-cf9c174eebb6.webp?v=1793328480
