ithaca-rattan-flush-mount-light
Ithaca Rattan Flush Mount Light

A thick disc of woven rattan, arranged in tight concentric circles, sits flat against the ceiling with no cord or stem. The crossed fibers are dense around the edge and draw in toward the center, like a woven eye. The domed body is full and open at the same time, so it shows real relief even when the light is off.

The Ithaca rattan flush mount light is named after Ithaca, the Greek island that Homer's Odyssey makes the home of Odysseus, a place of return that echoes the round, centered shape of this light.

Turn it on and the light moves through the tight weave and spreads around the fixture in a soft golden halo. The more open center lets a brighter point of light through. The rings throw a geometric shadow onto the surrounding ceiling. It reads as a piece in its own right, not just a light source.

A 16-inch woven rattan ceiling light for low ceilings

At 16" (40 cm) across, this flush mount becomes the focal point in the middle of a room without taking up any vertical space. It is a good answer for a bedroom with a low ceiling, where a pendant would hang too close to your head. It also gives warm general light to a living room, a kitchen or an entryway, rather than one small pool of light.

Want to compare it with other shapes and materials? The fibers soften the bulb and give the light a warm, honey tone. This rattan flush mount light pairs with light wood paneling, a terracotta wall, natural linen bedding or textured ceramics. It works in a beige and cream bedroom, a boho living room or a kitchen with natural wood cabinets.

The rattan keeps its natural shifts in tone and width from one strand to the next, so each piece is slightly different.

Materials & dimensions

Material: Rattan
Diameter: 16" (40 cm)
Color: Beige
Socket: Medium base (E26/E27), bulb not included
Voltage: 110-120 V (US standard)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1085/9505/2869/files/1784206068_tmp_1784206053_Plafonnier-rotin-rond.webp?v=1793328443
